VICA "How to Apply" Workshop

Attention Virgin Islands Arts Community:

Virgin Islands Council on the Arts (VICA) is conducting a series of “How to Apply” workshops for the August 31, 2006 grant submission deadline.  Information on project and budget development will be discussed in detail.  First time applicants are encouraged to attend.

Workshops date, time, and locations are as follows:

St. Croix 10th Grader Takes First Place in Congressional Art Competition

Sissel Holloway, a sophomore at Country Day School will represent the Virgin Islands at the 25th Congressional Art Competition. Ms. Holloway’s vibrant oil painting captured the judges’ attention at the local exhibition on May 11, 2006 where more than seventy pieces of art were judged by three local artists.

Each year Virgin Island Council on the Arts (VICA) joins with the Delegate to Congress to recognize the creative spirit of Virgin Islands high school in a nationwide art competition which focuses on the Visual Arts.

Tangi James, senior at Ivanna Eudora Kean High School was awarded the second place prize and Central’s Alicia Petersen, took third place.

VI Council on the Arts provides all expenses for the winner and a chaperone to attend the opening ceremony in Washington, DC.

Artists Registry

Often times we are asked to recommend artists for projects or performances, the Artist Registry is used as a referral tool. The registry also functions as our mailing list and a readily available source of contact with you.
