Mr. Jose Raul Carrillo was born and raised on St. Thomas and received his elementary and secondary education from Sts. Peter and Paul School and later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from the College of the Virgin Islands. Mr. Carrillo was the Assistant to the Financial Aid Officer and became the Director of Financial Aid at the College of the Virgin Islands. Subsequent to that position he led the post of Chief Protocol Officer of the Governor under the Schneider administration. He currently holds the position of Coordinator of Special Events for at University of the Virgin Islands.

Claire Roker was born on the island of St. Croix and is well known for her work in the tourism industry where she served as Assistant Director and Assistant Commissioner of Tourism for the Government of the Virgin Islands from 1987 to 1995. Ms. Roker presently serves as the local Office Manager for Delegate to Congress Donna Christensen. Claire has dedicated many years of devoted service to our community and serves civic organizations such as St. Croix Partners for Health, The Womens Coalition of St. Croix and the Girl Scouts of America, to name a few. Ms. Roker has received innumerable local and national awards, some of which includes: 

  • The Casper Holstein Award
  • Business and Professional Womens Organization Woman of Achievement
  • Hal Jackson Talented Teen International Coordinator Award
  • National Association of Female Executives Award

Karen Thurland is a native of St. Croix. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences from Montclair State University, a Masters in History from Adelphi University and is currently a doctoral student at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Ms. Thurland has worked at the Department of Education for the past 27 years, beginning her career as a Secondary Social Science Teacher. In 1981 she took the position as a Cultural Specialist and in 1985 she was promoted to the position of Territorial Supervisor of Social Studies. Ms. Thurland served as the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Library Services from 1987 to 1995 when she accepted the position of Assistant Principal of Arthur A. Richards Junior High School and is currently still in that position.

Lucinda Schutt is a native of Florida who has lived in the Virgin Islands for the past sixteen years. She received her high school diploma at Tampa Bay Vocational Technical Schouol and continued her post secondary education at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. Ms. Schutt is a practicing visual artist and is the owner of the Blue Turtle Gallery located in St. Thomas. She has worked as Resident Artist at the Ritz Carlton Hotel and at Caneel Bay Resort and is presently volunteering as Art Teacher at the Evelyn Marcelli School.

Vernon Finch was born and raised on St. Thomas. He is a 1967 graduate of Charlotte Amalie High School and earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Florida A&M University and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of the Virgin Islands. Vernon is presently employed as Grants Manager for the Department of Education. He previously was Assistant to the Commissioner of Education and was the Director of the Governors Youth Council. Mr. Finch is the Chairman of Kidscope, District Chair of the Boy Scouts and President of the Party Hardie Carolers.

Glenn Davis is a native Virgin Islander, born and raised on St. Thomas. He is a graduate of Charlotte Amalie High School and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of the Virgin Islands. Glenn has worked in many branches of government, previously he was Chief of Staff and Researcher for Senator Bingley Richards Sr. and Senator Donastorg respectively. He is currently a teacher at Eudora Kean High School. Glenn Kwabena is synonymous with VI Culture. He is known as a very popular Calpsonian, he is a chapter member of the Committee to Revive our Culture and the Founder/Director of Voices of Love. He is the recipient of numerous community awards to include the East Lions Club Appreciation Award, the Excelsia Club Lifetime Achievement Award and the GERS Calypso Appreciation Award.

Pastor Vessup was born on St. Thomas but resides on St. Croix. He is a graduate of Charlotte Amalie High School, obtained an Associate of Arts degree in Construction from the College of the Virgin Islands and a Certificate of Theological Seminary from the Moravian Theological Seminary. Pastor Vessup also holds an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Eastern Theological Seminary. Pastor Vessups entire government career was served at the Department of Property and Procurement. He is a member of both the St. Croix Interfaith Coalition and Ministers in Partnership for Family and Youth.
